Invisalign? Huh, what is that?
You may have seen advertisements about Invisalign, or you may have heard about Invisalign from your friends who are undergoing the treatment. But what is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear aligner which is virtually invisible and is custom made to help straighten and position your teeth.

What is so special about Invisalign compared to traditional metal braces?

1. As implied by its name, Invisalign is invincible
➡️ Most people prefer Invisalign over traditional metal braces because the clear aligners are less noticeable, giving you a more appealing appearance.

2. Invisalign is more comfortable
➡️ You will not be having complaints that the metal components are poking the inside of your mouth, so no worries about sore cheeks. You will also not face issues with Invisalign requiring you to make emergency visits to your dentist due to broken wires or brackets unlike metal braces.

3. Easy cleaning
➡️ As the aligners are removable, you can easily remove them for normal cleaning after meals. No special toothbrush, floss, or other tools is needed. Best of all, no more food or vegetables stuck in between the wires.

How does Invisalign work?

Your dentist will first take an impression of your mouth which is later converted into a 3D model to create a treatment plan custom for you. A series of specially made orthodontic aligners will help shift your teeth slowly into proper alignment and optimal position. You will need to switch out the aligners according to your treatment plan every 1-2 weeks.

Invisalign can treat a wide range of conditions:
? Crowding
? Gaps
? Crossbite
? Underbite
? Overbite
? Buck Teeth

Anything else I should know before deciding on Invisalign?

1. You need to be fully committed
➡️ Unlike traditional braces, you are in control of when you wear the aligners. While you are having the freedom, you should still be committed to wearing the aligner for most of the day. To obtain positive and effective results, it is recommended for Invisalign to be worn for about 22 hours a day, meaning you should be ready to put the aligners back in after meals or cleaning. With Invisalign, the success or failure of the treatment is totally with you.

2. You have to be patient
➡️ While Invisalign can be incredibly effective, most treatment may require about a year to obtain the anticipated result. Having said that, the duration of treatment varies according to the severity. Your dentist will discuss your treatment plan in detail during the consultation.

3. Practice good oral hygiene
➡️ It is extremely important during your Invisalign treatment to clean your aligners from any food or drink particles that may be trapped beneath. Stain-causing drinks such as coffee or tea can have compounding effects when the aligners are pressing the substance against your teeth. It is advisable to keep a floss, toothbrush, and toothpaste with you for a quick clean after a meal or snack before putting the aligners back in to avoid staining.

How much does it cost for Invisalign treatment?

The cost of Invisalign treatment differs depending on the duration of treatment, the severity of orthodontic problems, etc. It is best to consult with your dentist prior to treatment. At BioSmile Dental Clinic, we offer flexible payment options too.
